Former CIA Director nonsensically claims Statue of Liberty is target for Iranian attack

By Madison Ruppert Editor of End the Lie I never fail to be surprised by the completely illogical and nonsensical claims made by former and active individuals in the Western intelligence community in an attempt to scare the American people into submission. Previously, it was the Director of National Intelligence James Clapper who was attempting to convince us that Iran has “changed their calculus and are now more willing to conduct an attack in the United States.” This time around, it is R. James Woolsey, the former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) who jumped on the disinformation train in an appearance on Aaron Klein Investigative Radio on WABC Radio in New York. Woolsey significantly raised the probability of a false flag attack in the United States (which would obviously be blamed on Iran) in saying that Americans “have to get ready” for Iranian retaliation. This is supposedly because of the international pressure over their nuclear program, even though no one has actually presented evidence of military applications to their nuclear program. Furthermore, as I am constantly pointing out, if Iran attacked the United States or any other country it would only serve as justification for a massive Western offensive. They are well aware of the fact that what little support they have within the international community would quickly be eradicated the moment they took an offensive stance and engaged in acts of terrorism. I would like anyone who actually believes that the Iranians are dumb enough to engage in such activity to back such claims up, although I'm not going to be holding my breath on that request. On the show, Klein – who is connected to neoconservative-leaning WND – pointed to the alleged support of Hezbollah by Iran and asked Woolsey if he sees the “terrorist organization” possibly plotting attacks on Jewish targets. This relates closely to the warning from Israel on February 3 that Iran is supposedly likely to strike Jewish and/or Israeli targets within the United States . Unsurprisingly, Woolsey responded , “Yes, they [Iran] have Hezbollah, and it is the most professional terrorist organization in the world. It makes al-Qaida look like a real group of amateurs. And they have expended around the world.” The problem with Woolsey and the countless others in the media who blindly support Israel while demonizing Iran is that the proof of Israeli support of terrorist groups is even more plentiful than that showing Iranian ties to terrorists. Indeed, even United States officials (anonymously of course) revealed that Israel indeed supports the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK) . It has also been revealed that Israel was impersonating Americans while supporting the Jundallah terrorist organization by Mark Perry in Foreign Policy . Yet somehow it is Iran that is targeted for their support of terrorism, never Israel or the United States. The motivation for this is quite obvious, but the fact that individuals like Woolsey would constantly insult the American peoples' intelligence by ignoring these connections is just disgusting. “We will have a very serious problem from terrorism if we insist on Iran shutting down its nuclear program, but we have to do that. And so we have to get ready to deal with assaults on government facilities, on famous symbols of the country like the Statue of Liberty, on Jewish synagogues, there are a number of things Hezbollah could go after … and they probably will,” Woolsey added. This brings up another matter of concern, what right do individuals like Woolsey believe they have to force Iran to completely halt a peaceful nuclear program? Why is it that only Western nations or those who are obedient to them are allowed to pursue this technology? It makes no sense for one nation to be able to dictate the technology pursued by another sovereign nation so long as it does not put other nations in harm's way. Contrary to the mainstream media's narrative, there is absolutely no evidence of military applications for the Iranian nuclear program and more importantly, this has been confirmed by none other than the United States Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta on multiple occasions ( here and here ). Furthermore, we must consider the neoconservative pedigree of Woolsey, and his role in penning the now infamous Project for the New American Century (PNAC) letter in 1998. Not to mention his long history of sitting in prominent positions within Washington think-tanks, his participation in the Council on Foreign Relations and so forth. He is also currently the chairman for the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) which is yet another one of his neocon associations and connects him to infamous neoconservative figures like Charles Krauthammer, William “Bill” Kristol, Richard Perle, Newt Gingrich and Joe Lieberman. Just like Netanyahu, Clapper and others, at no point did Woolsey present a shred of evidence to back up his claims, instead opting to go the easy route of tugging on heart strings and engaging in egregious fear mongering. This is likely because Woolsey couldn't present any proof if he wanted to and indeed he would have a lot easier time backing up the assertion that any attack on the United States would be a false flag carried out by Israeli terrorist proxies like Jundallah, the MEK, and so forth or by the United States' assets or even more likely a combination of both. The point to take home here is that if any attack actually occurs in the United States, we should treat it with the utmost skepticism and avoid jumping to the conclusion that it was indeed Iran behind the attack. After all, the West has everything to gain from such an attack, while Iran has everything to lose and absolutely nothing to gain.
