The diplomatic standoff close to Syria looks to be reaching endgame as the US and Uk withdraw their ambassadors and Russian International Minister Lavrov flies to Damascus for talks with the Assad govt. As the political war of words heats up – so does the tone of reviews on Syria. The deadly crossfire has left global media relying on snatches of data and dubious or unverifiable sources to report the unrest dragging the nation in direction of civil war. On Friday Syrian rebels claimed a enormous govt artillery barrage killed 200 in Homs, an unverifiable figure that was however extensively cited in the run up to the UNSC debate on Syria.
